Students are the future of the profession. We have to equip them with the skill sets that will allow them to be effective leaders in the 21st century. This means they must not only be leaders of others, but leaders of themselves as well.

Dr. Betsy Charles, Executive Director, VLI

Because professional students and faculty are often so singularly focused on learning and teaching the nuances of veterinary medicine, they sometimes lose connection with the other facets and passions in their lives. In addition to providing solid training in leadership, our university programs also serve as a “recharge” opportunity where participants can remember who they are within the larger context of veterinary medicine. Essentially, VLI University programs create context and application opportunities to blend the technical and emotional-care components of veterinary medicine so participants leave better able to lead themselves and by extension, better able to lead others.
