Dr. Derrick Hall is the Associate Director for Student Initiatives in the Membership & Field Services Division of the American Veterinary Medical Association.  There he oversees, plans, and administers AVMA’s support of veterinary students, SAVMA and the local SAVMA Chapters.  He received both his Bachelor’s Degree in 2002 and his DVM in 2006 from the University of Illinois.  Prior to coming to the AVMA, he spent one year as an intern at a private practice equine hospital outside of Milwaukee, Wisconsin and one year working at a rural mixed animal veterinary hospital in central Wisconsin practicing large animal medicine.  He and his wife (who is also a veterinarian) are busy keeping up with their 5-year-old daughter, 2-year-old daughter and 1-year-old son. In his almost non-existent spare time, he enjoys watching Netflix and following his favorite sports teams (Go White Sox, Bears, and Illini!!!)
