Dr. Michael P. Jones graduated from the University of Missouri-Columbia College of Veterinary Medicine in May of 1992.  He participated in a one-year Small Animal Medicine and Surgery Internship at the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine (UTCVM), then accepted a three-year residency position in Avian and Zoological Medicine at the UTCVM.  Mike joined the UTCVM faculty in July of 1996 and became a Diplomate of the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners (Avian Specialty) in 1997.  

Currently, Mike is a Professor of Avian and Zoological Medicine and the Director of Student Services, Diversity and Recruitment.  His responsibilities are to provide clinical instruction of senior veterinary students, interns, and residents, research, teaching as well as lead the diversity and recuritment efforts for the UTCVM.  

Mike loves all things related to raptors, and his clinical interests include the medical and surgical management of birds of prey, avian infectious diseases, and avian emergency and critical care.  He is married and has three children.  Mike is also a Master Falconer with nearly 30 years of experience training various species of birds of prey.
