Dr. Rebecca Stinson completed her BS in Animal Science at Virginia Tech in 1994.  She then spent four years working in small animal practices in Atlanta prior to attending University of Georgia for veterinary school graduating in 2002.  While a student at UGA, Rebecca was very involved in SAVMA and OTS as well as serving as a Hill’s student representative.  After graduation, Dr. Stinson completed an equine private practice internship at Genesee Valley Equine Clinic in Scottsville, NY.  She then joined a mixed animal practice in North Carolina as a large animal practitioner.  In 2009, she and her partners formed Carolina Equine Hospital.  They developed an externship and internship program and built a state of the art facility in 2013.  Dr. Stinson served as AVMA Vice President 2014-2016 and was thrilled to spend more time working with the future leaders of the profession.  During this time, she decided to move into academia to focus more on student development.  She joined the faculty at Berry College in Georgia in August 2016 and enjoyed working at the undergraduate level.  In January 2018, Dr. Stinson joined the office of Academic Affairs.  Rebecca is grateful to share her life with her husband, Mark.  Together, they have a son, daughter in law and three beautiful grandchildren.  They live on a small farm in North Carolina with her horse, and two cats.  They enjoy spending time at the lake in the summer.
